Menocchio was one of the six winners of the Giles Cooper Awards for original radio plays first broadcast by the BBC domestic service from December 1984 to December 1985 (a total of almost 500 plays). The judges for the 1985 awards were Susanna Capon, Nicholas Hern, Richard Imison, and BA Young.
